It’s been a rather chaotic few days. Work is going ok, but some of the restrictions they place on “probationary” employees kinda stink. At least it’s only for the first 90 days.
Deuce is doing very good, and he’s starting to pick up some little things that are cute and promising. For example, if Dana or I say “nose,” he’ll touch our noses. He also knows bellybutton and ear… You have to be careful with eye.
He loves his bath, and recognizes the word we use (”chuppie”, which I guess is an old Ukrainian word or something.. I don’t know, my mom and dad used it when we were growing up and I (and now Dana) use it with Deuce). As soon as we say chuppie, he heads for the stairs, climbs up the stairs, and makes a bee line for our bathroom. He then stands at the tub and waits for us to run his water.
Overall, things are going well. Here’s hoping the new job gets easier with time.
We’ve met our immediate neighbors (those with whom we share a wall) and our neighbors in one of the adjacent buildings. Of the three in that building, two have been vacant since we moved in, and those buildings were finished before ours.
Last week I noticed the For Sale sign was down on the far townhouse, so we have been expecting new neighbors. Therefore, it was no surprise to see people moving in to that townhouse today.
The surprise came in that the people moving in are people that Dana knows. The woman is a teacher at Gateway, and her brother went to school with Dana and now teaches at Gateway as well. Their father and mother are clients of Grandpa A. Needless to say it’s nice to know someone around, even if I don’t know them from Adam.
I do not think we’ve commented on how much we like our townhouse and the area where it’s located. It’s a quiet neighborhood with not much traffic. The view out of our bedroom windows (both front and back) is nothing but trees and hillside farmland.
While we won’t be in this townhouse forever, I can see us being in this part of the state for a long time to come.
That’s right. A whole weekend without traveling anywhere. It’s been a very long time since that’s happened.
Yesterday we went to Best Buy to get some parts so I could install my old deck into the Civic. We also went to Verizon so that I could get a new phone. I got the Motorola E815, which is very cool.
Today I installed the CD player in the Civic, although not without having to run back to Best Buy because I bought the wrong part. After that we ate dinner and I did some work on a side project, and that’s pretty much been our day.
So, all of a sudden, Deuce has two more teeth. Dana send me a text message this morning informing me of this. I haven’t talked to her about this, but apparently his top right and bottom left chompers have come in.
That brings the teeth total (or tooth total, I don’t know) to 10. So watch yourself!
After my first day of work in Greensburg, Dana called and said that her and the boy were visiting Bob and Pat. She mentioned that they had gotten two dogs.
So I went over after work and met their two miniature dachshund puppies. They are very cute animals, and I think Dana thought so as well. So we may start up the discussion about getting an animal in the house. While I have reservations (which have now boiled down to cost and responsibility), Deuce loves animals, and I’d really hate to keep from having his own for too long.
It’s about 4 pm and it looks like it’s 8:30 pm… That cannot be good.
