These are the hats, thumbless mittens and preemie afghans I’ve been making in my spare time.  (I can’t sit still very long).  The reason I’m doing this is because I found a really nice website that has given me some crochet pointers.  My aunt taught me to crochet when I was younger, and I’ve picked it up again just for something to do.

Anyway, after making my first blanket in about 5 years or so, I had a TON of yarn left over that I wanted to get rid of.  Since I have baby brain, I decided to make some baby items.

I did find a few websites that show you how/where to donate these items so that’s exactly what I’m doing.

Being it’s the Christmas season, I’m asking anyone who is creative in any way (sew/crochet/knit etc.) and has a few spare hours to consider donating something to someone.  Not necessarily baby stuff.  But, if that’s what you’re looking for, a lot of hospitals have NICUs that will accept hats, blankets and clothing.  There are plenty of organizations out there and a lot of people that are less fortunate that could use something nice from a stranger this holiday season.

I know.  It’s just an apple.  But this is the very first picture I took with my new camera.  I was so excited, I pretty much grabbed the first test subject that would stand still and be patient.  Right away, I can tell a HUGE difference in the quality of my pictures between the powershot and the SLR I got on Saturday.  I hope that all my pictures will be much better now.

Take a look at some others:

These are from my christmas tree that we decorated yesterday.  After I got the hang of taking those, I took a couple of my animals.  This one happens to be my favorite:

Doesn’t he look like he’s the boss?

More to come when I have something interesting to post….

I promise, no more apples.

My best friend closed his eyes last night,
As his head was in my hand.
The Doctors said he was in pain,
And it was hard for him to stand.

The thoughts that scurried through my head,
As I cradled him in my arms.
Were of his younger, puppy years,
And OH…his many charms.

Today, there was no gentle nudge
With an intense “I love you gaze”,
Only a heart thats filled with tears
Remembering our joy filled days.

But an Angel just appeared to me,
And he said, “You should cry no more,
GOD also loves our canine friends,
HE’s installed a ‘doggy-door”!

I’m really getting lazy with my blogging, particularly on this site.

That’s right, Easter is the next major holiday.
