Because when you think 1337, you think Microsoft.

In searching around the net today, I came across this page on Microsoft.com: A parent’s primer to computer slang.
Granted, ti’s relatively informative for parents, however, it’s always amusing to read a description of slang in proper English. As an example:
Rules of grammar are rarely obeyed. Some leetspeekers will capitalize every letter except for vowels (LiKe THiS) and otherwise reject conventional English style and grammar, or drop vowels from words (such as converting very to “vry”).
Now, don’t get me wrong, they are correct, but somehow I don’t think when kids use “leetspeak” they are consciously thinking “Let me cast off the conventional rules of English style and grammer as a passive aggressive attack on society and social norms.” IT’S SLANG, people, let’s not analyze it to death.
