Blown up Sir! and the Benefits of Blogging

Ah, good ol’ Windows dealt a crushing blow to my productivity today. About mid-morning, my laptop core dumped and just never restarted. I tried running chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, all the big guns, but to no avail. And, being that I’ve been incredibly busy around here as of late, my “backup” plan is less than sufficient. So now I’m working on my desktop trying to locate bits and pieces of code. All in all, a terrible process that I will not do again, as I am setting up a backup schedule as we speak.
On a personal note, Eyetique was more than helpful in replacing my frames (although, due to Oakley, I’m still waiting for them… it’s the old “hurry up and wait game”) and check on the status of the sun clips (not as important, but still required). And I got a call from the president of Eyetique today. Apparently, he ran across my previous post and wanted to make sure I knew they would replace the frames and that everything was ok on my end. Now, they aren’t Lenscrafters, and I expect to wait a bit for designer frames, particularly in my prescription (the lenses look like Coke bottles). They said they’d have them in two weeks, and the frames and lenses were in well before that, but the frames were scratched, so I told them to hang onto them until they got the new frames.
So, overall, my Eyetique experience has been good. We’ll see what the final product reveals, but the quality of service has been great to this point.
