Mambo (no, not No. 5)

In an effort to make the home site slightly more professional and a bit more attractive, I’ve installed Mambo on spike. Mambo is an open-source, PHP/MySQL-based content management system. that allows for some very cool templating and customization.
It’s currently running, although none of the content is mine. I’m right now trying to design a decent template for the bluegator site and then move forward with putting some of my own content there. I’m getting a lot of traffic to both this blog and the Wild, and much of it seems to be coming in because of my Neuron template. If that’s the case and I can drum up some specialized consulting for people, I should have a more professional homepage. The blogs are great, but the frontpage should be much cleaner.
Work has been pretty boring. I’ve been writing some small apps to add functionality to a one-off version of our student management product. I’m not a big fan of the one-off, because it’s like writing a new application for a specific customer, and we don’t charge enough to re-write our applications every time someone makes a purchase.
But again, I don’t make the deals, I just do the work… C’est la vie.
