If you get what you pay for, I’m getting screwed.

Update 3.2.2007: While I have posted previously about the customer service I received from Eyetique, it is only fair that I mention in this article the service I received. Eyetique was very generous with their time and money in an effort to get me my glasses, and on that reason alone I will consider going to them for my next pair of eyeglasses. However, my position on the Oakley eyewear remains unchanged, and I would advise Eyetique to re-examine their relationship with Oakley prescription eyewear, as their quality is definitely not up to Eyetique’s standards.
Since the previous content of this post dealt mainly with my problems with Eyetique’s customer service, I have chosen to remove the rather rage-filled comments in favor of this text. Eyetique’s customer service was excellent, but I still question their motivations behind selling clearly substandard eyewear at fairly high prices. Perhaps Oakley has worked out their issues, but my first Oakley prescription purchase will most likely be my last.

[...] I’ve already chronicled most of my misadventures with Oakley and Eyetique here, so I won’t bore you again. July 11th I picked up my completed glasses and sunclips (the one’s I ordered on April 21st). After 11 weeks of waiting, I tried them on and they looked and fit fine. The sunclip is a little tough to remove, but it works well. [...]
I agree with you completely. Thye made me go through the same game last year about my contacts and very exensive frames and lens. They are expensive and they suck
I had initially thought that perhaps this was an isolated incident. Hearing that you have gone through the same thing makes me think otherwise.
I’m thinking about creating a small page as sort of a “boycott Eyetique” page, so that others are aware of the crap they put you through for frames.
On a side note, Oakley eyeglass frames SUCK. I got rimless, and lenses are coming loose (and I almost NEVER wear them, they are now my backup). On top of that, the sunclips I got look absolutely terrible.
Overall, I got screwed at Eyetique and will NEVER, EVER go back there. I hope you do the same.
here is another fresh idea. i purchased a pair of cartiers glasses and the screws will not hold the glasses together. i am always at the doctors office getting them tighten. the doctor quit selling cartier brand because of so many complaints. i think of how much money i could have saved if i would have went to sears, pearl vision, lense crafters, dollar store etc. there is no recourse with cartiers
all of you ahve valid points that i thought had been handled quite elequently considering the fact that all of the problems related to your paticular situations were unavoidable given the fact that i can’t replace frames that the manufacturer can’t provide me with, screws that stay tight over the course of years of rigorous wear and expectations of custom contact lenses that take time to arrive after being made. All of you received considerable compensation for the delay in your product but no mention of that, nor the thirty years worth of utterly satisfied customers who have repeatedly darkened our doors. there is the example of the fact that sometimes you just can not make every one happy, sincerely marcus manager ps upon completion of all of the compensation this blog was to have been removed as part of our deal thanks
Marcus,
I appreciate your post, but you really should read the rest of my eyetique entries, specifical this one. I agree that Eyetique has made a very good effort on my part. The post I mention also notes my complete and utter dissatisfaction with the Oakley brand when it comes to prescription eyewear. I realize that Eyetique has no control over this and mentioned that in my post.
Furthermore, I will not remove my the post.. While I have already posted a second article, I will update this one to reflect the additional assistance I received.
