Control Upgrading… think before you act.
Published 8.25.2005 by ~mattg
So we thought it would be a good idea to upgrade some of our third party controls to the latest version we own. Big mistake.
I updated the controls and all the javascript files that go with them, and the first thing I notice is that NONE of the dropdowns work, and my IE window is full of javascript errors. The good ones too, like “Object Expected” (thanks for that info, IE, I’ll get right on finding that object for you… putz).
So now I have two options:
- Fix the updated versions so they work (and do so by the end of business tomorrow)
- Rollback to the versions that work (and do so by the end of business tomorrow)
So, while I do like the controls, if upgrading is going to take days out of my week, I don’t know if I’ll be upgrading anytime soon. I guess that means we shouldn’t renew our subscription.
The best part: the controls have absolutely no change log of any kind. So i’m left in the dark as to what changed and how I can fix it. Morons.
