B3 Award for November 12 - 18, 2005

It was a relatively busy week on the homefront, so I haven’t had much time to peruse the week’s quotes for a particularly stunning act. But then, the “Vice President for torture” Dick Cheney weighed in:

Vice President Dick Cheney is joining President Bush and other Republicans in accusing Democrats of foul play for asserting that the administration misrepresented intelligence to build support for taking the nation to war in Iraq.

Cheney said Wednesday the accusation is “one of the most dishonest and reprehensible charges ever aired in this city.” — New York Newsday

To which I say “wow.” Since when does an incumbent administration which is less than one year into a second term (that’s right folks, three more years of this crap) have to resort to campaign-style attacks and speeches to make it’s point?

Dishonest and reprehensible, huh Dick? How about the “Energy Task Force” meetings that included the big oil execs and supposedly planned the Iraqi war well before you let Congress “decide” to go to war. Good call!

In any case, it takes real big brass ones for any politician, especially Cheney, to call another politician “dishonest and reprehensible .” From what I’ve seen of Washington, those are the top bullet points on any political resume.
