Upgrade to WP 2.2

Published 5.17.2007 by ~mattg

I ran through the upgrade process from WP 2.1.3 to WP 2.2. I don’t usually write anything about this, mostly because it’s always seamless and takes about 5 minutes to upgrade both sites. Today it took 10 minutes, but only because I had to clear out the old wordpress files instead of just copying over them.

It’s not often that I praise software. In fact, I’m pretty hard on it. Not because I think I could do it better personally, but I tend to want a ton of different customizations in a product and I’m usually disappointed when one or more features I want isn’t available. With Wordpress, however, I can honestly say that I’ve never had that want. Not only is the core code outstanding, but the community of plugin developers is just as active and dedicated. And when I can’t find exactly what I want, the code is accessible, so I can roll my own stuff (like the Runstoppable widget).

So congratulations to the WP development team for continuing to turn out excellent quality. Keep up the good work!
