Sometimes you get busy… Sometimes, you just don’t have anything meaningful to say. When those two things collide, you get inactivity. Part of my hiatus is due to the fact that I’m in the middle of trying to learn a new software project while contributing to it. We’ve all been there once or twice, so I’ll spare you with the details. I am quite happy with the challenges my new position is presenting, and I am looking forward to getting into more “project management” roles within the scope of a singular project.
I’ve been doing a little side work here and there, adding some functionality to a PHP/MySQL web application written by someone else. The application could use a major overhaul, unfortunately I don’t have that kind of time. I’ve been phasing the bad code out and replacing it with some more object-oriented stuff, but it’s a long and tedious process.
That’s my development work for the last month or so. I think I’m running in the 10K component of the Great Race, so I have a long run this weekend and week of short training. I ran 7.44 last week without too much trouble, but my ultimate goal is still to finish. My secondary goal is to finish in under an hour.
