Management?

Well, in a way. We currently have multiple products that we are actively developing. One is in it’s infancy, one is new to the public but old to the company, and one is a bit older. The infant product is in it’s design phases and therefore requires the attention of the senior staff members. In an effort to put more resources onto this future product, some priorities have been shifted.
One of those is to change the lead developer role on the just-released product. That responsibility has been given to me. Now, I’ve been with my current company for about three months, so it shocked me a bit when they asked me about it. I’m confident in my ability to do the job, don’t get me wrong. It just seems to have come a little faster than they had expected.
What does that mean? Well, for the first time in my professional career I’ll be in charge of a product’s design decisions, as well as overseeing other developers. This includes things like code reviews and training. It’s a step in a different direction for me, but one I’m quite excited about taking.
