Getting carded at Giant Eagle.

That’s right, I was carded at the grocery store. Now, for those of you who live in states where you can buy booze at the grocery store, this isn’t a ridiculous notion. But here in PA, where it’s easier to buy a handgun than a bottle of whiskey on Sunday, it’s a bit nuts. Why, do you ask, was I carded at Giant Eagle? NyQuil.
Apparently, kids these days, bored with their super-high quality video games, cell phones, and the internet, turn to cough syrup to get high. Since it’s not a “controlled substance,” I guess it’s not illegal, although given the effect that NyQuil has on me, it should be a controlled substance. It might have something to do with making crystal meth, although I’m a little behind on the chemistry of illegal drugs, so I don’t know if NyQuil can be used to make meth.
I’m just confused, because when I was younger, we had Atari and Nintendo, no cell phones, and BBS (yes, that’s right, I said bulletin board systems. Nothing says 1990 like mentioning BBS). I don’t remember getting carded to pick up medicine. Boy, I sound like an old man. I guess I’ll go play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare online so I can hear the teenagers say things like “pwnd.” Maybe that will make me feel young again.
