Penguins vs. Flyers, Game 1

First Period:
I expected this series to be played a bit tighter than the first period showed. Sykora put a sick backhand in off a tic-tac-toe pass play from Malkin and Malone. The Flyers answered with two garbage collector goals by Richards. The Penguins, however, were not short on answers. Crosby scored on a redirect from Hossa, and Malkin put a wrist shot past Biron with 6 seconds left in the period. This looks to be a barn burner.
3-2 Penguins
Second Period:
More of what I expected from this series. Puck possession and physical play led to a low scoring second. The only goal came on a Malkin shorthanded goal. He had a breakaway but got clobbered and was slow getting back. Hossa made a huge play to free the puck, and Gonchar found Malkin straggling back. He put another blistering shot past Biron.
4-2 Pengiuns
Third Period:
The Penguins really went into shutdown mode, limiting the Flyers to only 9 shots. Granted they only took four, but a lot of the time was spent dumping and retrieving, keeping the puck in the Flyers zone. A boring period, great for Pens fans, not so much for Flyers Fans
4-2 Penguins, Pens lead series 1-0
