Penguins vs Flyers, Game 4

Published 5.15.2008 by ~mattg

First Period:

I don’t know if the Penguins expected to breeze through this game or what. Their giving up turnovers, allowing Philly in front of Fleury, and basically not doing anything on offense. Three goals in the first period by the Flyers means that the Pens had better get their head out of their butt, or we’ll be heading to Pittsburgh this weekend.

3-0 Flyers

Second Period:

More of the same, except no goals. The Penguins look like they are trying to phone this one in, so why can’t I?

3-0 Flyers

Third Period:

At least they made a concerted effort to fight back. Staal brought us within one, but they capped it off with a meaningless empty-netter. I can only hope that this lights a fire under their collective butts and they come out strong on Sunday to finish this series up.

4-2 Flyers, Pens lead series 3-1

*Note: The Versus announcers are awfully biased. Throughout this series, when Philly was down and the Pens were flying, they are coming up with excuses for why the Flyers are losing. The Flyers come out in the first period and score three, and all of a sudden it’s the Flyers who are “awesome.”
